Did you know that Warehouse X at Buffalo Trace is just over a year into it’s experiments with direct sunlight on barrels? They’re yielding some very interesting results.
Remember those E.H. Taylor Warehouse C Tornado Bourbons? The roof was ripped off of the warehouse, but the barrels inside survived, only to be baked in the sun until the roof was repaired. The result was amazing when 100 of those barrels, 9 to 12 years old, were married together and bottled. I always wished I had a bottle to open during a blackout (we get quite a few here in Bucks County!)…maybe in a few years we’ll be able to try a bit of the juice in Warehouse X!!!
